The plastics industry is facing a comprehensive transformation towards a climate-neutral circular economy. To support this transformation, a uniform EU policy framework is required that promotes alternative sources of raw materials, expands recycling and ensures the availability of affordable, renewable electricity. At the same time, the European plastics industry must become internationally competitive again. The aim is to transition the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹
At 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗗𝗮𝘆 on 15 May in Vienna, 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 will address the necessary political framework conditions.May in Vienna, 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗹𝗳 will address the necessary political framework conditions in her presentation and introduce the transition roadmap from 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲, which shows how greenhouse gas emissions within the plastics value chain can be brought to zero by 2050 and how the proportion of fossil raw materials in plastics production can be gradually replaced by up to 65% by 2050 from circular sources, including plastic waste.
